Just imagine a world without plumbers – clogged pipes, leaking faucets, jammed toilet bowls.  Not much of a pretty sight, right?  With all the things that we should be grateful for to our plumbers, it is just about right that they get a plumbers day in honor of them and all the things they do for us.

But when did plumbing start anyway?    Records say that the farmers of Southwest America who built great irrigation canal networks were the first ever “plumbers” who existed.  And from these simple projects, the field of plumbing grew into a fine industry that provides us with one of our modern day comforts that we cannot imagine living without.

No one is really sure who made the plumbers day official.  There are even 2 or 3 different dates for honoring these pipe-tweaking men.  For many, the 25th of April is the day when they recognize the efforts of our plumbers.  Promos from companies like Roto Rooter are often done to celebrate this day.  Their “Pimped Out Powder Room” promo gave its winner an all-pink, all pimped out bathroom equipped with the latest gadgets like the Sony Vaio, an iPod, Bose sound dock, and Flavia Fusion drinks station to name a few.

Another day for the plumbers that the city of New York celebrates happens every 24th of March.  Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg declared this day as the “Association of Contracting Plumbers Day” in recognition of ACP’s 125th anniversary.

Whenever people choose to celebrate plumbers day, what is important is that the efforts our plumbers does not go unrecognized.
