Is it safe to Hire cheap plumber

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

In hiring a cheap plumber, you have to take a handful of risks like getting wrong estimates, having faulty work done, and be charged for things that you don’t really need to pay for.  Not yet convinced?  Read on and learn more about the risks that comes along with hiring cheap plumbers.

A plumber from a reputable plumbing company, compared to Cheap plumber often charge higher than regular plumbers.  But along with this higher charge Is the guarantee that their work is of good quality and will last longer.  And if ever something goes wrong with their service, you can always call them up and have it repaired again, free of charge.  With cheap plumber, on the other hand, warranties on their work usually last for a shorter and period and often times, having them work again on their faulty service does not come for free.

When I had a good working, reliable Ideal Combin 120 heater, which provided reliable heating and hot water for more than 8 years, I invited THE cheap plumber to top up the pressure by pumping water to the heater, since the water pressure had gone down. He opend the cover of the Ideal combi heater and unnecessaryly fiddled with a screwdriver. He was kind enough to not to charge for his service this time. After about 2 days the heater developed a leak, and had to be replaced by another plumber. So this cheap plumber cost me about $5000 (£2500).

Moreover, plumbers from reputable plumbing companies are well trained and have extensive experience in doing various plumbing jobs.  Their training and extensive experience comes in handy especially when you require them to do complex plumbing repairs in your home or office.  Plumbers who charge less often have less training and experience thus resulting to poor quality work.

Take it from one good plumbing company like Robert Wagner Plumbing, Heating & Cooling Inc. who says that, “The good feeling of a cheap price is long gone before the stench of poor quality is ever used up.”

So the next time you consider calling up a cheap plumber, just think of the mishaps you could encounter with them and their service.  It is always better to spend a few more pennies on good quality service rather than waste them on poor and unreliable plumbing work. You never know, they might actually do the job for free but damage something in the process, so they can make a very expensive job out of a simple thing !
